Survey of Wrecks in the Greek Seas

Since 2003, with the characterization of wrecks as cultural assets (FEK 1701/Β/19-11-2003), in the list of underwater monuments have been included sunken ships and airplanes aged over 50 years from their wreckage date. According to European Marine Observation and Data Network (EMODnet), in the Greek seas are displayed approximately 2.000 wreck locations (some of them have been recovered).

The following link displays a map of Indicative Locations of Wrecks and Recovered Wrecks, which is part of the ongoing study of Wrecks History. The basic reference material of this project is originating from Ch. Ntounis’ book “Wrecks in the Greek Seas”.
