Completion of the intervention of the Ephorate of Underwater
Antiquities and its partners in the shipwrecks of Alonnisos and
Pagasitikos within the framework of the European project BLUEMED
It was in 1992 when I went for the first time at Kalamitsi. During that period diving was allowed only to designated sites and I was lucky that Georg (originating from Austria) was operating a diving center at one of the more beautiful (and remote) places of Chalkidiki. The conditions were ideal for diving at the “Wreck” which was a main attraction for divers. It was a unique experience as, like a new diver by this time, I had not faced the spectacle of a sunken ship yet.
