Kimon Papadimitriou, Dr Ing Rural and Surveying Engineering, is working as a Laboratory Training Staff at the School of Rural and Surveying Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.

As a PADI Instructor, in 2015 he developed a course for the training of divers in underwater surveys (Underwater Survey Diver speciality). Subsequently, he was certified by the Nautical Archeology Society as an instructor for the training of divers in wreck identification (Wreck Detective specialty).

Since 2019, he is the scientific manager of a lifelong learning course entitled “Introduction to Applied Methods and Procedures for Underwater Surveying”.

Currently, he is in charge for the coordination of ScienceDIVER, a project (funded by the European Maritime and Fisheries Fund, EU) focusing on the development of standardized training and clear career pathways for the diving scientists.

He is a member of the “Underwater Data Acquisition and Processing” working group of International Society of Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ISPRS) as well as of the “Earth Observation in Cultural Heritage Documentation” task group of Comité International de Photogrammétrie Architecturale (CIPA). 

He is coordinating a citizen science project for surveying, archiving and studying the Wrecks History and he is engaged in marine environmental monitoring as an active member of Watch the Sea.
